On Sunday, exhibitors from around the island will come together in Waimea for the second annual Totally Local Fiber and Farm Festival at Aina Hou Animal Hospital. At the festival, the whole family can look, learn and shop at booths containing totally local products.
On Sunday, exhibitors from around the island will come together in Waimea for the second annual Totally Local Fiber and Farm Festival at Aina Hou Animal Hospital. At the festival, the whole family can look, learn and shop at booths containing totally local products.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be fiber arts demonstrations of weaving, spinning, net weaving and more. Children of all ages can sink their hands in the different kinds of fleece, from angora to wool, and shop the booths of fiber artists who have knit, woven and crocheted them into hats, scarves and other fine items.
Local farms will have orchids and farm fresh foods for sale. Families can also visit the alpacas, rabbits and sheep whose fiber goes into making the beautiful items available at the booths. The festival is free to the public.
Directions to Aina Hou Animal Hospital: From the main intersection in Waimea at Mamalahoa Highway and Lindsey Road, take the Hawaii Belt Road toward Kailua-Kona. Across from the Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena, at the 1-mile marker, turn right onto Lalamilo Farm Road. In about three quarters of a mile, turn left onto Pu‘u Huluhulu Road. The practice is a half mile down on the right at 66-1520 Pu‘u Huluhulu Road. Plenty of parking is available.
